Amos Elon (1926–2009) was an Israeli journalist, author, and public intellectual. He was a leading figure in Israeli journalism and a prominent voice in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He wrote extensively about the Middle East, Zionism, and Israeli society. He was the author of many books, including The Israelis: Founders and Sons, Jerusalem: City of Mirrors, and The Pity of It All: A Portrait of Jews in Germany, 1743-1933.
