Robert Wright is an American journalist, scholar, and author known for his books about science, evolutionary psychology, history, religion, and game theory. Born on January 15, 1957, Wright has written for The New Republic, The New York Times Magazine, The Atlantic Monthly, and other publications. He is particularly recognized for his 1994 book "The Moral Animal," which explores the ways in which evolutionary psychology informs human morality and social dynamics. His other notable works include "Nonzero: The Logic of Human Destiny," which argues that human history is shaped by a direction towards greater complexity and cooperation, and "The Evolution of God," which discusses the history of the concept of God in the context of cultural evolution. Wright is also a visiting scholar at the University of Pennsylvania and has taught at Princeton University, where he created the popular course "The Evolution of God." He is the co-founder of Bloggingheads.tv, a platform for online discussions and debates. Wright's works often aim to synthesize scientific research with philosophical inquiry and are influential for their interdisciplinary breadth.
