Shan Sa

Shan Sa is a Chinese-born French author, painter, and poet. Born in Beijing in 1972, she moved to France in 1990, where she continued her education and began her writing career. Shan Sa's work often explores themes related to Chinese history and culture, identity, and the experience of women. She writes both in French and Chinese and is known for her poetic and lyrical prose style. Her best-known work is "The Girl Who Played Go," which won several literary awards, including the Prix Goncourt des Lycéens. The novel is set in 1930s Manchuria and revolves around the Japanese occupation, depicting a tragic love story between a Chinese girl and a Japanese soldier through the game of Go. Shan Sa has also published poetry, essays, and other novels, and her work has been translated into many languages, expanding her international recognition. In addition to her literary achievements, she has exhibited her paintings in various art galleries around the world.
