Susan Faludi is an American journalist, author, and feminist. She was born on April 18, 1959, and is well-known for her writing on women's issues and the exploration of the complexities of gender roles. Her most famous work is "Backlash: The Undeclared War Against American Women" (1991), which addresses the resistance and negative reactions to the feminist advances of the 1970s, arguing that the 1980s saw a backlash against these gains. The book won the National Book Critics Circle Award for nonfiction. Faludi’s other notable works include "Stiffed: The Betrayal of the American Man" (1999), which examines the crisis of masculinity in the face of changing gender roles, and "In the Darkroom" (2016), a memoir and biography about her relationship with her father, who underwent gender transition later in life. Throughout her career, Faludi has contributed to the discourse on feminism and gender with her investigative journalism and insightful commentary.
