Tarana Burke is an American social activist and the founder of the #MeToo movement, a grassroots movement to support survivors of sexual violence. She is a senior director at Girls for Gender Equity and the founder of Just Be Inc., an organization that focuses on the health and well-being of young women of color. Burke is a leader in the fight to end sexual violence and has been recognized for her work in the movement.
