On the whole I think this is a very nice example of a book of this age, but it does have plenty of flaws. The covers are very nice, except for two spots on the spine that have some of the clear plastic peeling off a little. The junction of the pages and the cover has some cracking on the front where the pages join the front cover but the same spot at the back of the book shows no cracking. One section of 5 pages have separated from the binding, but the rest are all still attached. This Modern Abridged Edition was printed in 1955, so while the text may have been edited for comprehension, no edits were made to soothe current sensitivities.
